Interested in the history of the San Mateo area? Check out The Hiller Aviation Museum, an educational facility that contains exhibits featuring planes, trains, and other types of automobiles.
At The Hiller Aviation Museum, you'll find exhibits detailing the history of aviation for the past century, as well as information about the industry's future. There are vintage airplanes that date as far back as 1869 as well as a Boeing 747-100 nose section and cockpit, flight simulators, a new Invention Lab, and an air traffic control simulation. The Observation Nook gives visitors the chance to check out what's going on behind the scenes at the San Carlos Airport, and you can even view the Earth from 30,000 feet in the air anywhere in the world with the Sky Portal. The Hiller Aviation Museum's gift shop is stocked with memoribilia, gifts, books and more, but before you head home, make sure to check out the aircraft restoration process in the Restoration Shop.
