No. 9 Park: Elegance on the Common
June 12, 2013 | greystar
Located in an elegant Beacon Hill townhouse, No. 9 Park provides an intimate, European-scale setting in which to enjoy Chef Barbara Lynch’s refined cuisine. The menu showcases an artful blend of regionally inspired Italian and French dishes with an emphasis on simplicity and flavor. Begin with the house specialty: gnocchi, stuffed with prunes, crispy foie gras and vin santo. The mix of textures and flavors is unique and sublime. For the main course, guests love the Hake en Croute in a brown butter-parsley crust, topped with shrimp, cockles, and a rich uni butter sauce that compliments the light, flaky fish. Portions are small enough to leave room for dessert, so throw caution to the wind and try the complex Baba au Rhum, which is generous with the rum, homemade banana ice cream, and intense passion fruit gelee. Service is attentive and unpretentious, and prices are as high as you’d expect. The three-course prix fixe menu ($45) is a money saving option, but with wine pairings this creative and satisyfing, save your pennies for a romantic splurge on the Common.
