Fall Preparation!

November 15, 2015 | greystar

Dear Resident:

How time flies! Daylight savings time has ended for the year and we’ve turned our clocks back. This is a perfect time to review some important Fall/Winter Preparation Tips:

  • If applicable, test your smoke detectors and intrusion alarms – never disable a smoke alarm for any reason.
  • Remember to clean out the lint in your dryer filter after each load of laundry to avoid overheating and to keep your dryer running efficiently.
  • Check your window and door locks.
  • Remember that window screens are designed to keep insects out, not to keep children in – please never leave children unattended near an open window or door, place furniture near a window, or let a child push on a window screen.

As always, please call the office as soon as possible if anything in your apartment home is not working properly. It is especially important to notify us if there are any signs of water leaks or moisture from your windows, doors, kitchen or bathroom. Here are some tips to reduce moisture build-up in your home.

  • Wipe down showers after using; clean mildew as necessary.
  • Stretch out shower curtains after showering to facilitate drying.
  • Do not leave wet/damp clothing and towels piled up; allow to dry.
  • Do not store wet/damp clothes and shoes in closets. Be especially careful during the rainy season.
  • Wipe down condensation on windows and window sills.
  • Do not over-water indoor plants.
  • Always turn-on fans in bathrooms when showering and bathing.
  • Turn-on exhaust fans in laundry areas when washing and drying clothes. Ensure dryer hoses are connected to vents.
  • Turn-on exhaust fans when cooking, especially when creating steam.
  • Open windows to allow fresh air to circulate and help get rid of stale and humid air, especially when cooking and entertaining.
  • Immediately report any leaks, moisture buildup, or water intrusion to our office.

Finally, let us know if anything outside needs attention. Please notify us of uneven or slippery sidewalks, pool gates that do not close properly, loose or uneven stairs, potholes in the parking area, or any other issue you feel needs attention. We want the common areas and recreational facilities to be an enjoyable and safe part of our community.

Thank you for making a Greystar community your home. Please let us know what we can do to make your fall and winter more enjoyable and safe!

Sincerely,

You Jefferson at Dedham Station Team
