Located in Georgetown, Thunderburger throws down when it comes to burgers and exotic meats. This gourmet burger restaurant has a lot of rock and roll attitude with inventive food. Beef burgers are made from free-range beef and favorites include the Love Me Tender with aged white cheddar, tomato and remoulade, and the Buffalo Stomp, a bison burger wrapped in bacon and topped with gorgonzola cheese, and grilled onions. For vegetarians, the Rock The Casbah burger with a falafel patty with a cucumber yogurt sauce is a tasty option. For more adventurous eaters, Thunderburger is known for unique meats and the regular menu offers an Elk burger. Their specials menu offers even more exotic options like turtle fritters, kangaroo and alligator bites, and ostrich. The rock and roll menu pairs well with the creative menu, and makes for a fun, casual meal with a unique twist.

Cure Your Blues With A Night At Tonic

Tonic, located in DC’s Mount Pleasant neighborhood, is a local bar and grille featuring great pub food specials. For snacking, regulars love the tater tots served with 3 dips; chipotle honey mustard, pepper aioli, and Cajun remoulade. There are over 10 burgers on the menu and you can choose from beef, veggie, or bison patties, or a grilled chicken breast. Try the Aztec burger with cheddar, guacamole, and a three pepper aioli. Monday through Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., burgers are half off! Happy hour also boasts half off drafts and rail drinks. Most regulars come for the sports bar feel, for NFL and college football, the bar offers $4 Yuengling and $.75 wings. Tonic also hosts UFC fight night watch parties. Taco Tuesdays are popular with $.50 tacos with the purchase of a beer, cocktail, or appetizer.

Room 11: A Small Space That Packs a Big Punch

Room 11 in DC’s Columbia Heights neighborhood offers creative small plates and a great atmosphere for an intimate evening out. Dishes are made with quality ingredients and crafted by experienced chefs. Their small portion is perfect for when you want delicious food without feeling stuffed. It’s a great place to go with a few friends and enjoy a quiet meal. The menu rotates seasonally, but regulars recommend risotto and seafood dishes. Leave room for the goat cheese cheesecake that is a menu mainstay and topped with seasonal fruits and jam. The bar is known for its unique cocktails; try the Half Smoke, a vodka based drink with citrus and spice flavors. Room 11 has friendly staff that are happy to explain the menu or describe the wine. The Hamilton: Casual American Food in a Classy Atmosphere

The Hamilton is a great place to get casual American food in a classy atmosphere. Come for lunch and enjoy one of DC’s best burgers, patties are from locally-raised, grass-fed beef. Try The Hamilton Burger with house cured bacon, a fried egg, and Vermont cheddar cheese. Another crowd pleaser is the beef brisket sandwich topped mac and cheese, cole slaw and fired onions. If these suggestions weren’t enough, The Hamilton even has a sushi bar, with half price happy hour every day from 3-6 p.m. The bar menu has just as many options with over 20 beers on tap and a great wine list. The large space has many unique features, like private booths with doors. Oak wood paneling and white linens throughout give this place a grand, yet warm feel. D.C. Reynolds: Patio Brunch

Ingredients are imported from Italy and crafted by owner and pizzaiolo, Ettore Rusciano who hails from Naples, Italy and takes pride in Menomale's quality food. He’s been certified by the Verace Pizza Napoletana, a non-profit founded to preserve authentic Neapolitan pizza-making.

The pizza here has a light and crispy crust, sweet and tangy sauce, and fresh and flavorful cheese. There is a full bar that features a variety of local and international favorite small batch and craft brews, including 10 on tap. The large hand-built oven dominates the small space and serves as a focal point and conversation starter.

Meridian Pint: Craft Beer by the Pint

Meridian Pint is a popular bar in Columbia Heights with a mission of environmental sustainability. They serve exclusively American draft beers, to cut down on shipping and recycling impact, a large portion of their decor and furniture is from recycled and re-purposed materials, they purchase green energy, and food items are seasonal and locally sourced. Meridian Pint takes pride in serving craft whiskey and beer, including many local DC brews, making it a great place for beer aficionados. Their menu features American pub favorites and is vegetarian/vegan friendly. You can build your own burger, or choose from one of their signature styles, like the "monstrosity" with braised short rib, caramelized onions and mac and cheese. You can choose an all natural beef burger, chicken breast, or the house-made lentil barley burger. There is always a fun atmosphere at Meridian Pint, especially in the lower level that has more of a pub feel with dim lighting and billiard tables.
