Located on the first floor of The Galleria, Off the Wall Gallery is a high-end art gallery specializing in what owner Mimi Sperber calls "Urban Eclecticism." This genre of art is a blend of artistic elements believed to nourish "today's urban souls."
Family-owned and -operated for over three decades, Off the Wall houses 4,600 square feet of original art, sculpture, and prints by mid-level career from all over the world. Expert staff is on hand to introduce collectors and novices to their favorite new artists, and the gallery frequently plays host to temporary exhibits, as well. Past exhibits have displayed pieces by famous artists like Dali, Matisse, Picasso, Manet, and Renoir.
Situated near Neiman Marcus, Off the Wall Gallery is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. Sundays.

Café Piquet serves up a splendid selection of authentic Cuban fare in a rustic indoor-outdoor setting. The expansive menu gives you plenty to choose from, including sandwiches, soups, salad and appetizers. You can get your meal started with a refreshing libation and an appetizer like Croquetas de Jamon – ham croquettes, Calamares Fritos – fried calamari, Tostones – fried green plantains, or Papas Rellenas – stuffed potatoes.
The classic Cuban sandwich, the Cubano, with Swiss cheese, ham, pork & mustard on a French roll, is always a great choice. Entrees include Pernil – oven roasted pork with garlic sauce, Ropa Vieja – shredded beef cooked in tomato wine sauce, Camarones Enchilados – shrimp Creole, and Pollo ala Plancha – grilled chicken breast.

Harvest Organic Grille offers diners a delicious menu of healthy, fresh, sustainable fare. They accommodate a variety of dietary styles with 36 gluten-free, 25 vegetarian, and 27 dairy-free dishes. Case in point: These two must-visit parks near Houston. One park lies on the river, while the other is known for its vast biological diversity. Either way, both make for a memorable getaway.
Big Thicket National Preserve
Big Thicket National Preserve is located about two hours outside of Houston. Here, you can find species from very different habitats living among each other in a relatively small area. Take a hike on a variety of different trails, ranging from a brisk boardwalk stroll to an extreme 15 mile trek. The preserve is also a popular destination for birdwatching, as approximately 185 migratory bird species make Big Thicket their home between March and early May. Canoeing and kayaking enthusiasts travel to Big Thicket year-round to cruise the Neches River and Village Creek.
Stephen F. Austin State Park
You'll find Stephen F. Austin State Park just 30 minutes from the outskirts of Houston, so it makes a quick day trip for anyone looking to get outdoors. This scenic retreat offers traditional camping activities such as hiking and fishing, as well as the more modern geocaching. If you'd like to keep it simple, go fishing for catfish along the Brazos River. There are wide variety of campsites to accommodate your camping needs, whether they be a place to hook up your RV, a cabin for shelter, or just a little spot to put your tent.
