The Bonneville: Sophisticated New American Cuisine

Take a date to The Bonneville, a classy restaurant in downtown Austin offering sophisticated New American cuisine. Most dishes are gourmet updates on everyday favorites, like the popular Bacon and Egg Ravioli appetizer — tender dumplings served in a creamy brown butter sauce. Diners also recommend the Grilled Pizza as a starter. (Try the lamb pizza with a spicy eggplant puree, mint, Manchego cheese, and a drizzle of lemon yogurt sauce.) There is a handful of entrees to choose from. The Toasted Orrecchiette Pasta with house-made veal meatballs is a crowd pleaser. Don't skip dessert at The Bonneville; the Lemon Buttermilk Pudding with blackberry compote is out of this world.

A full bar features craft cocktails, like a Habanero Margarita. Stop by during the daily happy hour from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and take advantage of $3 discounts on cocktails and wine by the glass. The ambiance is ideal for a date — a mix of wood and contemporary brick make it sophisticated, yet simple; modern, yet inviting.

3 Stops to Make During Your Barcelona Vacation

Filled with shopping, vibrant culture, history, and fantastic dining, Barcelona is one of the most popular tourist spots in Spain. When planning your trip to Barcelona, include these three great attractions on your itinerary.

La Rambla
La Rambla may just be one of the most famous streets in the world. It's a must-see during your stay in Barcelona. As you walk down the boulevard, you'll see all sorts of people from street artists to vendors to human statues. You may even be able to hear a free show by one of the local musicians. When you need a break, head to one of the street side cafes to take it all in over a delicious coffee or snack.

Parc Güell
Architect Antoni Gaudí designed Parc Güell in the early 1900s. It's now one of the most famous man-made landscapes in the world. The park looks like something out of a fairy tale, with a gatehouse, mosaic lizard, and beautiful views of the city. Plenty of walking trails wrap through the park. Make sure you bring your camera to capture the amazing architecture and sculptures.

Barri Gòtic
After taking in the culture of Barcelona, explore history at Barri Gòtic, also known as the Gothic Quarter. This neighborhood is one of the oldest in the city. Some of the most oldest and most beautiful architecture is in this part of town, like the La Seu Cathedral. Many of the buildings are from the medieval era. There are plenty of shops, cafes, and even street performers to keep you entertained for hours.

Season’s Greetings!

Wishing everyone a happy and safe holiday season with all the warmth and splendor this time of year has to offer. Happy Holidays!

Three Unique Ways to Make a Great Cup of Coffee

Good coffee's almost everywhere these days, with cafes dotting every corner and even fast food restaurants offering espresso drinks. Of course, many coffee aficonados still prefer to make coffee at home, using gourmet beans to create their perfect cup.

Drip coffeemakers might remain the most popular way to make coffee at home. But for those willing to experiment, there are a few other simple ways to make a great cup of coffee. Here are three you can try at home at Marquis at Barton Trails:

Pour Over
Like drip coffeemakers, pour over brewers run hot water through ground beans. Made by Melitta and other companies, pour over brewers offer a bit more control over the taste: you'll wait to grind the beans immediately before brewing, you'll pour the water over the grounds evenly, and you'll only make as much coffee as you'd like to drink. Click here to read a guide from Stumptown Coffee Roasters on pour over coffee.

Aeropress
The aeropress follows the same principle, combining hot water with coffee grounds. However, the press speeds up the process: the grounds soak for just 20 seconds, and then you'll press out the coffee into a cup. The result is coffee that's smoother and much less acidic. Click here to learn more about the Aeropress.

Cold Brewed
An increasingly popular way to make coffee, cold brewing dispenses with the hot water entirely and instead involves soaking ground coffee beans for up to 12 hours in cold water, then filtering out the grounds. The result is a very strong coffee concentrate. Mix one part concentrate with three parts water (or milk) and you'll have a very smooth cup of coffee that's very flavorful without much bitterness. Toddy, a company that makes a handy brewing container, offers some more detailed instructions on its website.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Wishing everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving surrounded by those you love and full of many things to be thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving!
