Four Great Political Documentaries

April 5, 2013 12:00 pm

In an election year, it’s always a good idea to look back at past events to guide us in our future decisions. These four films tell stories of political events that we can still learn from today.

Feed
Cobbled together from footage filmed just before and after candidates in the 1992 presidential election went on the air, this often funny documentary lays bare the very human personalities that emerge when candidates think no one is watching.

The Fog of War
Using his distinctive documentary style, Errol Morris coaxes 85 year old Robert McNamara to give an interview for the ages, giving a surprisingly frank account of his time as Secretary of State during the Vietnam War.

Street Fight
A mayoral race in Trenton, New Jersey sets the stage for a gripping tale of a young, idealistic candidate going up against a seasoned political machine.

Please Vote for Me
In 2007, a class of third graders in China held the country’s first democratic school election, for the position of class monitor. The film provides a glimpse into Chinese society and the very nature of democracy.

Fajitas and Ritas

April 2, 2013 12:34 pm

When: Friday, April 12th, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: Marquis at Barton Trails Clubhouse

Let’s face it, here in Texas we love us some good Tex-Mex and an ice-cold margarita. We figured what better way to get to know our residents than over some great food and tasty drinks. We will have the beloved Austin staple, Chuy’s, provide fajitas with all the trimmings for the event. Delicious wine-ritas and other refreshments will also be available for those residents over 21.

Be sure to swing by the clubhouse after work to grab dinner with your neighbors and the management team before the weekend. See you there!
