Try Hubbell & Hudson Kitchen for Modern Comfort Food

Once you bite into your meal at Hubbell & Hudson Kitchen, you'll likely understand what all the buzz is about. Food critics have said that Chef Austin Simmons is in the "upper echelon" of Texas chefs, and customers say that a meal here is simultaneously elegant and relaxed.

The kitchen specializes in dishes that combine unique, modern preparations with familiar flavors and foods reminiscent of the meals that Mom and Grandma used to make. Try, for example, the apricot-glazed turkey meatloaf, served with caramelized onions, spinach, and button mushrooms, and add a side of parmesan and white cheddar mac and cheese topped with a dash of Tabasco. There's also a fun build-your-own menu option where you choose your base meat, add a spice rub, a dipping sauce, and a side dish. Flatbread pizzas, burgers, and a soup and salad bar round out the offerings at this popular eatery.

Easy Ways to Incorporate More Folic Acid Into Your Diet

When you think of the necessary vitamins and minerals that you should be getting from the foods that you eat, folic acid likely isn’t one of the first things that come to mind. It is a very important element in everyone’s diet, however, especially women who are pregnant and those who are susceptible to Alzheimer’s disease. Here are some of the best ways to incorporate more folic acid into your diet.

  1. Broccoli. You already know that you should eat your vegetables to get the proper nutrients, but broccoli contains a great deal of folic acid as well. Just half of a cup of broccoli contains 52 micrograms of folic acid, which equals approximately 13% of the average person’s recommended daily value. Steaming broccoli or eating it raw is one of the healthiest ways to consume this veggie, but you can also add it to salads or stir fries for a more flavorful taste.
  2. Sunflower seeds. These tiny, toasted snacks are not only tasty, they’re also a very impressive source of folic acid. Just one ounce of sunflower seeds provide 20% of your recommended daily intake, and they also provide Vitamin E, beneficial fats, and other essential nutrients.

Peckinpaugh Preserve: Weave Your Way through a Maze of Hiking Trails

The Peckinpaugh Preserve is a wooded preserve in the Spring area that merged two areas of donated land to form 25 acres of hiking trails and green space. The preserve is located across Spring Creek and adjacent to the Riley Fuzzel Road Bridge, which makes it a convenient hiking spot for many Spring residents.

The trails wind around the preserve in a maze-like manner that makes them very interesting for even the most experienced hiker, and the terrain varies between sand and dirt. Many different animals and bird species frequent the wooded areas around the trails, so bird watchers and nature lovers alike frequently visit the preserve to catch a glimpse of these creatures in their natural habitats. The creek also provides an opportunity for fishing and for launching canoes into its flowing waters.

To help navigate Peckinpaugh Preserve’s complicated series of trails, there are colorful maps available at the small visitor center building at the entrance to the preserve.

TopGolf: A Driving Range With a Twist

TopGolf began as a traditional driving range in 2000, but over the next decade it evolved into a truly futuristic golf experience unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. The facility is separated into multiple air conditioned bays to shield players from the Houston heat, and there are many different holes scattered throughout the range.

Players can treat the visit like a traditional driving range or play one of TopGolf’s strategy games in which each hole is worth different amounts of points. Every hole is equipped with a sensor that keeps track of your points for you, and at night the holes light up with colorful lights. Up to six players can use one bay at a time, and the bays also contain comfortable seating areas where guests can order food and drinks while playing.

If that doesn’t sound like enough, TopGolf also offers pool tables, a full bar, and live music to make each visit fun for players of all ages and skill levels!

Three Awesome Craft Ideas for Washi Tape

Washi tape is beloved by craft enthusiasts because it’s easy to use, comes in a number of adorable patterns, and is completely temporary. If you want to incorporate washi tape into your crafting, here are three fun DIY projects to get you started.

Washi Tape Shelf Edging [Aunt Peaches]
This is possibly the simplest craft project that you’ll ever do. In just minutes, you can make a plain old bookshelf look chic, feminine, or even a bit edgy by simply applying washi tape to the front of each shelf. Just choose the pattern that best suits your design scheme and start sticking.

Washi Tape Switchplates [Crab and Fish]
Improving your home with washi tape is easy, especially if you seek out forgotten decorating possibilities such as updating your lighting switchplates. The hardest part about this project is lining up the pattern so that everything looks uniform, but the process is still incredibly easy—even the most novice crafter!

Giant Geometric Washi Tape Jewels [Curbly]
These giant geometric washi tape jewels aren’t for the faint of heart, but they are a whole lot of fun for fans of home decor with a bit more personality. Make a few jewels in different colors, or use neutral washi tape to create a more subtle effect that still has a whole lot of bling.
