Pretty much every city in the United States, big and small, hosts a fireworks display on the 4th of July. But some places go the extra mile to make their Independence Day celebrations something truly special. Here are four cities worth visiting around Independence Day!
New York City
The granddaddy of all Fourth of July fireworks, the Macy’s spectacular draws patriots from all over the East Coast to marvel at tremendous, colorful displays above the Manhattan skyline. Great views of the show can be seen all over the city and even from New Jersey.
Addison, Texas
Texas is a state known for its patriotism, and one of the most surprising fireworks displays comes from the small town of Addison. For three decades, Boom Town has been putting on huge spectacles. It’s so hard to find parking for them that you might have to park in a nearby town and walk.
Boston, Massachusetts
The Boston Pops show is one of the most famous in the nation, and one of the most costly, usually running over $2.5 million for the whole thing. Shot over the Charles River, some of the most coveted vantage points include the Longfellow and Harvard bridges.
Washington, DC
It’s not surprising that our nation’s capital would go all out on Independence Day. The fireworks over the National Mall are accompanied by a performance from the National Symphony and usually draw a half a million viewers.
