National Building Museum: Architectural History

Interested in architecture and building construction? A visit to the National Building Museum is in order, not only for the exhibits, but to view the building’s magnificent Great Hall, an enormous indoor plaza with gigantic marble columns. Ongoing exhibits include include Washington: Symbol and City, an exploration of the ways in which architecture balances practicality with the grandeur of buildings befitting the nation’s capital. The kids will love the Towering Ambition exhibit showcasing 15 famous structures from around the world made entirely from LEGOs. The National Building Museums is open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Admission is $8 adults, $5 children, seniors and students.
