Arepa TX: Fusion Fare by a World-Traveled Chef

When Arepa TX debuted about a month ago, it introduced Frisco diners to a fresh take on Latin American fusion fare. That's all thanks to Mary Ann Allen, perhaps better known by her online persona the Frugal Chef. Mary Ann has called many places home, from Bolivia to Guam, and traveled to even more destinations. So she's perfectly equipped to meld Latin American and Texan fare at her new eatery.

Her corn-based arepas are naturally gluten-free, and one such gluten-free arepa is the brisket with chimichurri sauce, a blend of Argentinean and Texan cuisine. The avocado BLT, banh mi chicken, and chipotle chicken are all void of gluten as well. Vegans will appreciate the variety of meat-free options too, including the barbecue jackfruit. The jackfruit mimics pulled pork exceptionally well when paired with the house sauce, so be sure to try it when you visit Arepa TX.
