National Video Game Museum: From Old-School to Cutting-Edge
January 10, 2017 | orion
Long before XBOX and Playstation, gamers used more modest consoles. But these were the early video games that began it all, which should earn them a place in the hearts of all contemporary gamers. If you want to learn more about the history of the video game, head to the National Video Game Museum in Frisco.
This museum walks guests through a "Timeline of Consoles," the main exhibit which, quite literally, features a chronological lineup of the earliest consoles up to the game systems of today. It starts with the Magnavox Odyssey, which was in homes as early as 1972. About 50 updated versions of the game console came in between that early, clunky model and the powerful, streamlined systems of today. Explore each of the 50 gaming systems as you walk through the main exhibit, then take some time to actually experience them in the '80s-era arcade that awaits just before you exit the museum.
