Franconia Brewing Company: German Beers by an Expert Team
July 22, 2016 | orion
The brewmasters at Franconia Brewing Company have roots in Germany—owner Dennis Wehrman actually studied beer-brewing in Munich, and his family began crafting beer there in the 1800s. So it makes sense that they create beers in the classic Bavarian style, an homage to the signature suds of Germany.
Although their beers have heavy German influences, they're all crafted using local ingredients, from the Franconia Wheat to the Franconia Dunkle. Being a small, local brewery also allows the brewers to enlist eco-friendly practices in almost everything they do. For instance, their discarded mash is recycled from the brewing bins to local farms, where it's repurposed as cow feed, and the brewery itself uses contemporary equipment to reduce the use of natural resources.
