Empty Bowls McKinney: Doing Good with Every Spoonful

April 21, 2017 | orion

Empty Bowls McKinney is an event designed to ensure that McKinney's residents in need no longer face the prospect of empty bowls. The annual fundraiser brings in money for the Community Lifeline Center, which launches initiatives designed to fight hunger and food insecurity in the region.

Here's how it works. Artists around the community craft beautiful bowls and, when you purchase a $25 ticket, you get to pick your favorite. Then you go from station to station, filling it with soups whipped up by the area's best chefs. You can pair your gourmet soups with bread and desserts created by the same chefs. The event also includes an online auction where you can directly purchase another of the artisan bowls. Empty Bowls is scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the McKinney Performing Arts Center.
