Tour McKinney as it Once Was at the Chestnut Square Historic Village
August 16, 2016 | orion
Long before it was modern-day McKinney, the land where you live existed as a small, thriving village. There are still some remnants of the city's former life at Chestnut Square Historic Village, which sits only a few blocks south of downtown McKinney Square. Some of the vintage buildings that make up this living museum date back to 1854, so this is the perfect place to learn about local history.
Schedule a tour of the village to meet with the "townspeople" and learn more about their various roles in everyday life. You can grab handcrafted drinks and gifts at Dixie's Store, see the crackling open fireplace on a cold day at The Faires House, and experience the other historical sites. If you opt for the Tea and Tour, you get to enjoy an afternoon tea at the Bevel House before you embark on your trip back in time at Chestnut Square Historic Village.
