Barolo: A True Gem in Pacifica

May 16, 2012 12:33 pm

If you’re looking for one of the most romantic Italian restaurants in the Bay Area, Pacifica’s Barolo is your go-to spot. Executive chef Jason Yeafoli is a graduate of the famed Johnson & Wales University, and he brings a tremendous passion for Italian cuisine to Barolo, which he also owns. The atmosphere is fantastically inviting from the minute you walk in the door—dark wood perfectly complements a blazing fire and flat-screen televisions playing classic black & white movies (without sound, of course). Once you’re seated, take a moment to notice the effortless quality of the service—regulars have nothing but praise for the staff. The menu is excellent from top to bottom, with regulars recommending the chef’s three-course special as an excellent, affordable introduction to what the place can do—before 6:30, it’s an incredible $24 for this spectacular meal. Diners also rave about the generously stuffed lobster ravioli, perfectly seared flatiron steak, and rich, juicy pot roast.

Incanto: Magic Culinary Creations by Chef Chris Cosentino

May 8, 2012 12:25 pm

San Francisco has no shortage of gifted, famous chefs working in spectacular environments, but one restaurant that is continually raved over is Incanto. Chef Chris Cosentino was featured on The Next Iron Chef and the restaurant has been written up in media outlets all over the world—so you know you’re in for something special. Incanto serves up innovative, rustic Italian-inspired food with a Bay Area feel, accompanied by a spectacular wine selection curated by expert Edward Ruiz. The menu here revolves around luxurious dishes like foie gras with trotters, sweetbreads, pork cheeks, and more. This is not a spot for cautious diners, but those with a sense of adventure will find themselves chowing down on a meal that they’ll never forget. It can be difficult to get a reservation—think several weeks in advance—but Incanto also offers communal tables for walk-ins, which can be a nice way to sneak a meal without too much fuss and make some new friends at the same time.
