Every day the deli counter serves up as many as 60 different Italian dishes, while the cheese selection offers more than 600 different kinds of cheese. (Don't miss Jerry's house-made mozzarella.) Jerry’s even has its own private label pasta sauces, which win raves from Italian fare aficionados. Throw in plenty of free samples, and you have a store for the ages.

Mr. Tod’s Pie Factory: Tasty Pies

If you’ve got a fan in Oprah Winfrey, you know your sweet potato pies are good. Tod Wilson, the founder of Mr. Tod's Pie Factory, started out in the baking business working for his godfather before striking out on his own in 2002. He came to national fame on the reality show Shark Tank, when the panel of investors was wowed by his attention to quality and detail.

Wilson's signature sweet potato pie is made with jumbo yams that are whipped to a light consistency and seasoned according to his mother’s recipe, and regulars insist that the pie is decadent and delicious. Other pies that win raves include the dense, decadent pecan pie and the lemon chess pie, but there’s not a dud in the bunch. Pies come in either a standard ten-inch size or a portable four-inch.

Mr. Tod's Pie Factory in Englewood is open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. The secret's out about this bakery, so expect a crowd around the holidays, especially Thanksgiving!

Coffee Keeps With Tradition at Havana Espresso

After you’ve ordered your coffee drink, take some time to peruse the food options. The baked egg white frittatas are hearty and satisfying, and the panini-style sandwiches are out of this world. Go for the classic Cuban, which pairs ham, roasted pork, Swiss cheese, pickles, and grainy mustard for an explosion of flavor. The salads are also very good!
