Sacramento and California's Central Valley are great places to visit. Here are some places to see if you're planning a trip:
WestWind Sacramento 6 Drive-In
Not many places still have drive-in movie theaters but Sacramento does. For just $7.25 per person you can see a double feature of first run, blockbuster movies. All your favorite snacks are available and reasonably priced. Of course you can bring in your own food as well.
Go to the Zoo
Sacramento has not one but two zoos for you to visit. Stop by the Sacramento Zoo to see animals like giraffes, red pandas, monkeys, and penguins. Take a train ride around the zoo and then feed the giraffes! Take a trip to the The Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary to see a different kind of zoo. This is more of a wildlife sanctuary with animals who are native to North America.
Chando's Tacos
This taco stand serves delicious, flavorful, authentic tacos. The prices are great too! Try the carne asada and the pork carnitas.
Wokcano is a firestorm of fabulous Asian fusion cuisine. For starters Wokcano offers both cold and hot options for appetizers. Cold preparations include tuna tartare, kimchi, a sashimi appetizer with an array of fish, as well as tornado spicy tuna dip served with Doritos. Yes, those Doritos. Hot appetizers are just as tasty and surprising with choices like salt and pepper soft shell crab, Malaysian style clams with spicy black bean dip, and tuna truffle pizza. Of course there are a good selection of soups, salads, wraps, as well as specialty sushi dinners displaying the same kind of innovation. Cooked seafood preparations are just as plentiful, with choices like lobster with black peppers and fresh ginger, grilled salmon, and honey walnut shrimp. The menu offers a staggering array of items that may appear overwhelming at first glance. But rest assured no matter what you choose you will leave Wokcano satisfied.

Did you know that Northern New Mexico is a beautiful place, steeped in history? It's a great place to step back in time, and learn about our country's history. If this sounds like fun, below are a few must-see destinations on your visit.
Valles Caldera: This 89,000 acre park can only be visited with an advance reservation, but this innovative method is actually advantageous. It keeps the park from every getting too crowded, and when you're there, you will feel like you have the whole park to yourself.
Tinkertown Museum: For most of his life, artist Ross Ward made art out of found objects to decorate his Sandia Park home. His home is now open to the public, and his unique garden of treasures is now a nationally recognized collection of folk and outsider art.
Santa Fe: Santa Fe is a fabulous destination for a long weekend away. While you're there, you can enjoy the theater, do some shopping, tour a museum, or time your trip around one of the city's many annual celebrations and festivals.
Acoma Sky Pueblo: Perched on a stunning mesa, Acoma Sky Pueblo is the oldest continuously inhabited community in the nation. Community residents provide tour year round of the 1,000 year old pueblo, and 500 year old Spanish church that still stand in the community to this day.
Carlsbad Caverns: These wondrous caves are internationally known for a reason. Carlsbad Caverns is a complex of 17 caves filled with amazing natural rock formations. Before you begin, grab the inexpensive audio tour and wander around the Big Cave, or, if you're up for an adventure, hike to the natural cave entrance.
Find authentic Southwest cuisine at Chuy’s Mesquite Broiler. Located across from the Hampton Inn suites, Chuy’s Mesquite Broiler is the kind of cool place that you want to find in California. The interior is really cool and comfortable, with neat wall décor and even surf boards hanging from the ceiling. For happy hour, this is a perfect place to meet up with friends and get a cold beer, glass of wine or hand-crafted drink while sharing some great apps. Try a tasty soup or salad, or go for one of the Killer taco platters (don’t forget to try the salsa bar). And there’s always something happening like King Trivia night, Tuesday Family Fajita day or Sunday Funday! Chuy’s Mesquite Broiler is open seven days (and nights) a week.

This fantastic Middle Eastern restaurant has been winning raves from locals since it opened for its delicious meat dishes, perfectly-cooked rice and more. Diners rave about the basmati rice, cooked with a unique process to make it tender and flavorful, and served with amazingly delicious charbroiled tomatoes—it’s almost a meal in itself. But don’t stop there; the kebabs are some of the best in the area, with perfectly-seared chicken, beef, and lamb tantalizing the palate. In an unusual move, they also offer salmon kebabs, which might be even better—the tender, flaky fish is spectacularly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Get a side of delicious, savory hummus and soak it up with freshly-baked pita bread. Diners on a budget stop in for the $9.99 lunch buffet, which offers some of Persia’s most popular dishes in a serve-yourself format.

If you’re looking for a sweet frozen treat, come to Golden Spoon Frozen Yogurt. Located in the Stevenson Ranch Plaza, the Golden Spoon is special, right down to the actual golden spoons! Come on in and enjoy the classic ice cream shop atmosphere. Because so many people go out to dinner in the area, there are always a lot of people coming in for dessert! When you get to the counter, be prepared to make some decisions. There are so many flavors from chocolate and vanilla to additions like fruit, graham crackers and candies (try the popular “red velvet”). Unlike other fro-yo spots that charge by the ounce, at Golden Spoon there are three different sizes to suit anyone’s appetite. And all refills are just $2!

Locals have been raving for fifteen years about the high quality, affordable Italian food knocked out by this lunch and dinner fave. Owner Angie Caruso keeps everything in the family—each and every one of her kids works there in some capacity, which carries through into the welcoming service and fantastic southern Italian food. They specialize in the bold cuisine of Sicily, and are especially proud of their seafood selections, with tons of fresh fish flown in daily for a wide variety of specials. Pasta is made fresh in-house daily, and it’s spectacular in consistency and flavor. Fresh focaccia is also served at every table as a starter, and it’s great. The wine cellar is well stocked with both Italian and California vintages, and the servers are excellent at recommending pairings for your meal. On nice days, eat outside on the covered patio and make sure to finish off with a panna cotta for dessert.
