Enjoy Mexican Food in a Hurry at Chronic Tacos

Chronic Tacos only recently debuted in Valencia, but the first location opened more than 10 years ago in Newport Beach. It was the brainchild of a pair of friends, Randall Wyner and Daniel Biello, who thought that the late-night food scene was really lacking in the area. Well no more. Biello and Wyner's brand of quick, to-order Mexican food filled that gap.

Head here for fresh flour or corn tortilla tacos filled with any meat you like, or a behemoth burrito stuffed with rice, beans, and, again, your pick of protein. You can also order one of the kitchen's specialty items, like the handcrafted flautas packed with carnitas, beef, or chicken and then dunked in the deep fryer. The deep-fried potato taco is another signature, showcasing creamy mashed potatoes and cheese. Don't forget to indulge in some Chronic fries, either, which the menu describes as "basically nachos with fries instead of tortilla chips."

Try the Sea Bass or Mahi Mahi at Catch 21

Although the setting is relatively laid back (you order at a counter and wait for your food to come hot from the kitchen), the seafood at Catch 21 is anything but ordinary.

Savor the lighter side of seafood with a salad topped with tuna or chicken, or build your own at the salad bar. From bean sprouts to beets, it contains every fresh component you could need for a stellar salad. You'd be remiss to skip out on the seafood, though, so consider a full entree. The prices are very reasonable—entrees will cost you less than $10, for the most part—and the food is fresh. Try the charbroiled tilapia or salmon, the fried fish and chips or shrimp and barbecue chicken, or opt for a loaded baked potato and some clam chowder.

Yogurteria: Help Yourself to Some Frozen Yogurt

Yogurteria in Stevenson Ranch is a self-serve frozen yogurt shop that, locals say, offers a decent range of flavors and topping options. Like other self-serve frozen yogurt places, Yogurteria sells its yogurt sundaes by weight. Yogurt flavors you can sample here include strawberry, dulce de leche, vanilla, Irish mint, chocolate, blueberry and peanut butter cup. Toppings include lychee, mango, Ghirardelli chocolates, kiwi and maraschino cherries.

This yogurt can get expensive fast if you get carried away with flavors or toppings. Yogurteria is open from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays.

Many Yelp reviewers refer to him by name, citing him as one of the main selling points at this popular sandwich shop. Of course, his friendly face and helpful attitude still pale in comparison to the sandwiches themselves.

Don’t Miss the Chinese Chicken Salad at New Moon Restaurant

The earliest version of New Moon Restaurant's chicken salad was whipped up more than 45 years ago by a member of Colin Tom's family. Little did the original chef know that Colin would one day open his own eatery and feature a revamped rendition of the family's chicken salad. But that's just what he did, and the Chinese-style chicken salad is just the tip of the iceberg.

It showcases slow-roasted chicken mixed with nuts and other crunchy extras, smothered in an internationally inspired dressing. But you can also opt for Chinese seafood at New Moon, like the shrimp with candied walnuts or the Cantonese steamed fish. Traditional dishes such as Peking duck, Mongolian beef, and Kung Pao chicken round out the menu at New Moon. The fresh ingredients and expansive menu make the eatery a popular spot to order takeout for many Valencia locals.
