This is the kind of family-owned place where the owners have worked behind the counter for years and take the time to learn the names of returning customers. It’s also the kind of place that donates its time and money to local charities and community groups.

Perhaps more importantly, Stevenson Ranch Bakery is the kind of spot where doughnuts are made in traditional varieties — glazed, iced, cinnamon sugar — and cost just $5 a dozen if you check in on Yelp. The bakery also serves savory breakfast sandwiches, including popular ham and cheese topped croissants and sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast bagels. Add a smoothie and you're good to go.

Tri Tipps is an unassuming, fast-casual Valencia restaurant specializing in slow roasted, choice cuts of tri-tip beef. This isn't barbecue; it's grill fare! The best selling menu item is probably the Santa Clarita sandwich, which has an enthusiastic following among regular customers thanks to its thick piles of tri-tip served with bacon, Monterey jack, and chipotle ranch. Second in popularity may be the Monster Shred, a sandwich of shredded steak, melted cheese, and jalapenos on a French roll.

If you've got a large group to feed, try one of the family combos, which includes up to two pounds of meat and four large side dishes. Best of all, eating at Tri Tipps won't break the bank, as even the family meals don't cost any more than a pizza delivery.
