Jersey Mike’s Subs: Try the Chipotle Chicken Cheesesteak

If you go to Jersey Mike's Subs around lunchtime on a weekday, expect to encounter a line. The popular local sandwich shop tends to attract a crowd during peak lunch hours. That's because, unlike its competitors, Jersey Mike's serves truly fresh subs made using the best possible ingredients. Its staff actually shaves meat fresh from the spit for each order, so you know you're getting the best stuff available when you order your sub.

Regulars highly recommend the chipotle chicken cheesesteak sub. It may not be the most traditional of the cheesesteaks, but it's smothered with a spicy chipotle mayo and filled with grilled onions and peppers. You can always opt for the classic Famous Steak Philly instead, which sports only grilled onions and peppers. Jersey Mike's dishes out cold subs, too, filled with fresh cold cuts, as well as wraps.

For a New York State of Mind, Try Mama Mia Pizza

Located on Old Road, Mama Mia Pizza bring classic New York-style pizza to the Santa Clarita Valley. Served by the whole pie or the floppy slice, this is the kind of thin-crust pizza that you need to fold in half in order to eat.

Deep-dish pies and gourmet toppings need not apply here! The pizza menu is pretty succinct; you can choose between cheese, pepperoni, vegetarian, margarita, and meat lovers' pies. Specialty pizzas include Hawaiian, barbecue chicken, white, and baked ziti. If you prefer, you can design your own pie by choosing from Mama Mia's selection of toppings; these include anchovies, ham, jalapenos, and onions, to name a few. Mama Mia’s also serves up a number of other Italian-American dishes, including pastas, meatballs, and cannoli. Daily lunch specials come highly recommended by Yelp reviewers.

Don’t Skip the Lunch Buffet at Karma Indian Cuisine & Bar

Pick Up Stix: Traditional Chinese Food Fast

For 25 years, the California chain Pick Up Stix has served classic Chinese food to diners in a hurry. Locals say the Stevenson Ranch location is a good place to grab lunch. Regardless, they seem to love the cream cheese wontons, the house special chicken served with brown rice, the house tofu, the Mongolian beef and the chow mein.

Vegetarians can substitute tofu in any Pick Up Stix entree. Lunch specials are available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can feed a group with the family value pack. Pick Up Stix caters weddings and other events throughout Southern California. Pick Up Stix is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays through Thursdays and from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays.

Many Yelp reviewers refer to him by name, citing him as one of the main selling points at this popular sandwich shop. Of course, his friendly face and helpful attitude still pale in comparison to the sandwiches themselves.
