Beer Can House: Boozy Folk Art

December 4, 2013 11:17 am

A monument both to the power of recycling and to the power of one man’s obsession, Beer Can House is a kitschy attraction that has been carefully preserved as a museum of sorts since its creator, John Milkovisch passed away in 1988. Flattened beer cans and pull tabs cover the entire exterior of the house and form garlands that hang from the eaves. It’s fun to pick out obsolete local brews among the dozens of brands – Milkovisch’s favorite beer was “whatever is on special”. Milkovisch’s oddball backyard landscaping, while not as beer-centric, is also a sight to see, with thousands of marbles, rocks and toys embedded into concrete used to make patios and planters covering the entire yard. For the low cost of admission guests can tour the house and watch a short film on its history.

They feature a rotating weekly menu of sweet and savory options, plus classic crepes that are always available, such as ham, egg & cheese, and banana & Nutella. Don’t like what you see? Come up with your own crepe combo filling. Order a crepe filled with either a ‘mélange a deux’ – two fillings, or ‘mélange a trios’ – three fillings. Sweet and savory crepe fillings means you can have one for dessert or one for lunch – or both. They’re served in a cone, so they’re perfect for taking away.

Learn about Space Flight with NASA’s Online Mission Archive

November 20, 2013 1:42 pm

If you’re a space enthusiast who wants to learn everything there is to know about missions outside of Earth, NASA’s mission archive was made for you. This in-depth list is packed full of every space mission conducted by NASA, as well as a launch schedule so you can stay up-to-date on upcoming launches.

If you know of a specific NASA mission that you want to learn more about, the mission archive features a main alphabetical list where you can search by mission name. When you click on a mission, the site provides a background summary of the project information, flight plan, the project’s experiments, and even authentic images and findings brought back from that mission.

For those who simply want to browse missions without a specific one in mind, the site also allows you to search by topic. Explore Earth, humans in space, the solar system, or even the entire universe by reading up on missions from these broad topics.

NASA is also planning new journeys every day. The site's launch schedule provides visitors with a full schedule of upcoming missions planned by NASA, as well as detailed information about the vehicle, launch site, launch pad, and the mission’s goals.
