Just over a half mile north of the water’s edge in Huntington Beach, on the corner of Beach Boulevard and Atlanta Avenue, you’ll find Mama’s On 39. This local favorite has only been open since 2011, but in that short time has gained tried-and-true status for folks who live in the neighborhood.
The family-friendly service, full bar, daily specials, and thoroughly unpretentious atmosphere all make Mama’s as comfortable as an old sweatshirt. The menu is diner-style, with breakfast served at any time along with large selections of sandwiches, burgers, and house specialties like old-fashioned meatloaf, biscuits smothered in country-style gravy, and crispy fried chicken. Daily specials include $10 pizzas on Friday, taco specials on Monday, and free kids-meal orders on Thursdays. For the grown-ups, Mama’s also has an array of craft cocktails, including bottomless mimosas all week long, mai tais, and spiked milkshakes, as well as generous happy hour specials Monday through Friday until 7 pm.
