The 2017 Houston Food Fest: More Than 60 Vendors From Around Houston

August 16, 2017 12:00 pm

CC's Creole Corner. Boogies BBQ. Gyro King. These are just a few of the local eateries that are in the lineup for this year's 2017 Houston Food Fest. The long list features all different kinds of fares, from classic American burgers to Spanish-inspired tapas. So you're going to want to get to Hermann Square, which is hosting the fest, as soon as the gates open at 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 19th.

That should allow you ample time to move throughout the entire festival, making pit stops at many of the 60-plus vendors who will be on the scene, including purveyors of frosty craft beers. Local bands will also provide the soundtrack for a day of fun. General admission is just $5, and then you pay as you eat and drink.

The focal point of the weekend is the Showdown Throwdown, a battle of the brass bands performed live. This year, it's Texas versus Louisiana. To Be Continued Brass Band will face off against the Bayou City Brass Band at The Warehouse on Saturday at 7 p.m. The live music will be judged, and a winner will be crowned before the end of the night. Tickets to the festival start at $30.
