Perhaps you've heard that Edgar Allen Poe spent some time in Newark—maybe you've even heard rumors of what the time here entailed. But with an enigmatic historical figure like Poe, it's hard to distinguish fact from fiction. That's why History Quiztory at The Bank Barn's Mary Torbey, a member of the Newark Historical Society, is hosting Edgar Allen Poe in Newark: Fact or Legend?

On Thursday, August 17th at The Bank Barn at Glasgow Regional Park, Mary will spend about 90 minutes weaving the tale of Poe's time in Newark. She'll explain how his visit here actually went down and debunk any myths regarding his time in town. Part of the presentation includes photos of Newark as it looked when Poe stopped by. The presentation kicks off at 6:30 p.m., and all ages are welcome, free of charge.
