Enjoy Modern American Cuisine at State Bird Provisions

April 30, 2019 | sack

If you didn’t know, California’s state bird is the quail. The winged critter was the inspiration behind opening State Bird Provisions. Originally, the chef started with a single recipe for delicious quail—and it’s still the cornerstone of the menu. However, the kitchen team has branched out noticeably with a wide array of other “provisions.”

Start your meal with some of the smaller bites, which are perfect for sharing, like the Hog Island Sweetwater oysters, the pepita-crusted avocado, and the garlic bread with burrata. You can also pass some of the savory pancakes and toasts around the table, like the toast topped with fried Brussels sprouts. Make sure you save enough room for an entree, or a “commandable,” like the signature quail, the yellowfin tuna, or the Japanese Wagyu steak with ponzu sauce.
