Celebrate the Souper Bowl Near The Courts at Historic Manassas Tonight at First Friday

The Super Bowl may have come and gone, but a much tastier version will be held today near The Courts at Historic Manassas. For February's First Friday, the Souper Bowl comes to Center Street. Various shops downtown will welcome locals to slurp up as many soup samples as they like for a flat fee of $5. Just grab a wristband at any of the stores along the Souper Bowl's route.

The city's eateries supply the soup, so if you try something you like, make a note of the source. At Prospero's Books, you can try the ancho tomato soup and grilled cheese from Zandra's. At Allyssa Bryn boutique, enjoy a sample of Okra's Creole gumbo, studded with chicken and andouille sausage. Anyone looking for something a bit heartier should head to Records & Rarities for smoked brisket chili by The Bone or Creative Brush Studio for clam chowder from Philadelphia Tavern.

Records and Rarities: Vintage Vinyl Not Far From The Courts at Historic Manassas

Records and Rarities isn't just in the business of selling music, it's also in the business of making music. The Manassas shop houses a recording studio where local artists can lay down tracks. It features contemporary equipment, including a WhisperRoom sound isolation booth that keeps out any outside noise while musicians record.

The studio evokes the same small spaces where many of the artists represented in Records and Rarities's inventory got their start. True to its name, the music shop stocks mostly vinyl —"pre-loved" vinyl, as its website puts it. The ever-changing collection of gently used records allows the store to offer a fresh new inventory on a regular basis. Come here and explore the many vintage records, or pick up a new turntable instead. Records and Rarities also stocks LPs, 45s, and some CDs, too.

Romance Is in the Air at Valentine’s Day Pops, an Orchestral Performance Near The Courts at Historic Manassas

The American Festival Pops Orchestra can be trusted with your Valentine's Day date. After all, the Washington Times describes its music as "classic, upbeat popular Americana performed with professionalism, affection, and more than a bit of pizzazz." That's all thanks to artistic director (and founder) Anthony Maiello, who worked hard to piece together an orchestra of the best musical talents around the DC area. This February 14, you and your significant other can enjoy their dulcet notes at the Valentine's Day Pops event, hosted by the Hylton Performing Arts Center near The Courts at Historic Manassas.

Starting at 8 p.m. in merchant hall, this romantic performance will feature some of the most popular, classic love songs ever composed. It focuses on modern pieces from the 20th century, so you can expect to recognize most (if not all) of the pieces as the professional orchestra plays them for you and your date at the Hylton.

Enjoy Dinner and a Movie Near The Courts at Historic Manassas at Manassas 4 Cinemas

If you’re looking for a great place for your next movie night in the Manassas area, the Manassas 4 Cinemas is a great choice. This well-maintained movie theater near The Courts at Historic Manassas may be smaller than the usual chain cinema, but although it only offers four movies at one time, it always shows the latest blockbuster releases that you most want to see.

The cinema contains three traditional theater rooms and a unique café theater, which features couch and bean bag seating and a full wait staff serving food, soft drinks and even a small selection of beer. Although it doesn’t have the state-of-the-art technology or modern amenities of more upscale theaters, many residents love Manassas 4 Cinemas for the cozy feel, smaller crowds, and more affordable prices.

Art and theater are important aspects of any city’s culture, and the Center for the Arts is where you’ll find these entertaining events near The Courts at Historic Manassas. Historic Downtown Manassas is a quaint, charming town that is incredibly rich in history. Living in The Courts at Historic Manassas puts you near some of the city's most interesting art attractions, making it easy to take a stroll to experience all that the city has to offer. Celebrate Nature near The Courts at Historic Manassas at Prince William Forest Park

At Prince William Forest Park, visitors will find everything from cabins and campgrounds to hiking trails and fishing spots. Located just a brief drive from Manassas, the park has nearly 40 miles of trails for hiking along with roads suitable for biking.

The park also offers campsites and cabins, with facilities including grills and picnic tables at most sites and an RV campground drawing RV enthusiasts. Fishing enthusiasts might enjoy spending an afternoon out on Quantico Creek, where you'll find bass, pickerel, and catfish. Hiking trails here range from short, easy loops to longer trails with more difficult terrain. The park's also home to a number of "orienteering" courses, where visitors can walk the trails seeking out specific points in the park. Orienteering is similar to geocaching, and Prince William Forest Park might be one of the best places to try it in Virginia.

Manassas's BadWolf Brewing Company is a no-frills brewery that serves only unfiltered and unpasteurized beers. They make a wide variety of craft beers, including brown and pilsner style ales, stouts, porters, seasonal mixes and unconventional batches that you won’t find anywhere else.

Make the short trip over from The Courts at Historic Manassas to down a pint with friends, or sample a little bit of everything they’ve got to offer with their 6 oz. flights. Stop in Wednesday for the best prices on flights. If you find a beer you really like, you can buy a growler to take home, or save some money and bring your own to refill. They'll even fill growlers gotten from other breweries!

Celebrate the 32nd Annual Manassas Fall Jubilee near The Courts at Historic Manassas

Each year, Historic Downtown Manassas celebrates the arrival of fall with an Annual Manassas Fall Jubilee. This year, the 32nd celebration of this famed Manassas event will be held on October 4. Stop by any time from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to enjoy some of the many rich activities and events this fun, community affair has to offer.

Stroll on over from your The Courts at Historic Manassas apartment to catch the live entertainment. Meet up with friends for wine tastings at the Wine Garden, situated on the Manassas Museum's lawn. If you're hoping for a different atmosphere, try the Beer Garden. (There are many events suitable for families as well, including performer events, rides, and a pumpkin patch.)

The festival will also feature more than 100 craft and community booths, live music, lumberjack performances throughout the day, and a farmer's market.

Not far from The Courts at Historic Manassas, Manassas Mall is less of a mall and more a central location for stores catering to all your needs. It houses over 75 shops, plus a play area for children and a food court. Expect to find stylish shops like American Eagle, Aeropostale, Charlotte Russe, Macy's, and JCPenney as well as more all-purpose stores like Sears and Walmart.

But Manassas Mall offers more than a wide and varied selection of stores. It also hosts important and fun events for the Manassas community. Stop in October 4 for the Blue and White Health Fair, where you'll find fun activities and stations to get full health screens. On October 8, you can bring your young ones to the Movers and Shakers Kids Club for a morning of fun, complete with live performances.
