Kelly’s: A Thorndale Neighborhood Breakfast Spot

July 22, 2014 1:50 pm

Though the days of a neighborhood diner full of smiling faces seem to be long gone in many cities, Kelly’s keeps that community dining experience alive in Thorndale. Residents love this restaurant for its reliable, hearty breakfast items and its affordable prices, but the warm welcome upon entering certainly doesn’t hurt. Kelly’s is welcoming and cozy, and the dining room is furnished with spacious tables large enough for four.

The omelets are all made to order, which makes them ideal for kids and adults alike, and Kelly’s pancakes are some of the most popular items on the menu. If you stop by later in the day, the restaurant serves standard sandwiches, salads, and other lunch items as well.

Kelly’s is only open for breakfast and lunch, though the restaurant also offers take-out for diners on the go.

Midway Grill: A Popular Thorndale Spot for Burgers and More

July 15, 2014 2:46 pm

Sure, Thorndale’s Route 30 boasts a wide variety of burger joints, but not many of them have the loyal following that Midway Grill does. The restaurant began in nearby Coatesville, and though it has since moved to its current Thorndale location, Midway Grill maintained its classic recipes that keep regulars coming back again and again.

The family-owned service is always fast and friendly, and the prices are just as low as they have been since the restaurant’s humble beginnings. Hot dogs and fries are some of Midway Grill’s most popular menu items, though you can’t go wrong with any of the other hearty sandwiches, perfectly grilled burgers or heaps of hot wings.

While Midway Grill is small inside, the restaurant also offers delivery and catering for your next large party.

How to Style a Coffee Table Like a Design Pro

July 8, 2014 12:11 pm

When styled correctly, a coffee table can have a positive impact on the overall aesthetic of a space. However, there's a fine line between a chic display and a cluttered mess. Here are three tips to help ensure your table is making the right statement.

1) Only display items worthy of displaying.
That is to say, if you're not proud of the item, then said item doesn't deserve a spot on your coffee table–even if it is your favorite weekly tabloid! Stash keys, spare change, stray papers, remote controls, and mail elsewhere. Or if you prefer, a decorative box can provide storage for these items.

2) Display items of varying heights.
Use an eye-catching tray and stacks of hardcover books to create the bottom-most layer of your display. Shorter candles and bowls can complement taller pieces, like oversized hurricane vases and flower arrangements. Just be sure to edit your display so that the table doesn't become cluttered.

3) Make it yours.
Your table should reflect your personality. If you have a favorite quirky collectible or a treasured family heirloom, this is the place to show it off!
