Feast on Seafood of All Sorts at The Oyster Festival

October 11, 2016 | greystar

Some of the best oysters in the country can be found just a few minutes from Jefferson at Farmingdale Plaza. On October 15th and 16th, said oysters take the spotlight at the annual Oyster Festival at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park in Oyster Bay. The two-day festival celebrates oysters with oyster shucking contests, oyster eating contests, and lots of opportunities for oyster tasting. Beyond oysters, the festival also celebrates other types of seafood like lobster, clams, shrimp, crabs, and scallops.

Don’t like seafood? The festival will also feature cheesesteaks, pulled pork sandwiches, meatball sliders, and more. In addition to food, the festival promises a range of fun events and activities, including live music from local bands, art vendors, and carnival rides. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, so grab your friends and head out to this seafood-centric festival to celebrate one of Long Island’s most important exports.
