Celebrate Independence Day at the Jones Beach Fireworks Show

June 26, 2018 | greystar

When the Jones Beach Fireworks Show went on a years-long hiatus due to budget constraints, the people of Long Island mourned. But it came back with a vengeance in 2015 after an absence of seven years—and 140,000 people showed up to celebrate its return. Officials expect similar numbers this year, so you'll want to show up a bit early for the fireworks on the Fourth of July.

Although the official show doesn't kick off until 9:30 p.m., traffic will probably start to pick up around 6 p.m. So head to Jones Beach and grab a parking spot before then, or park a mile or two away at a nearby park along the Cedar Creek County Park Path. Then you can enjoy a leisurely walk to the beach with your friends and family. The show is free to attend, though parking at Jones Beach will be $10 on the evening of the event. But most locals would agree that's a small price to pay for 30 minutes of oohs and ahhs!
