Katy Rock Shop is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. The shop is closed on Mondays.

The Cellar Door: A Popular Wine Bar in Katy

It's Monday!!!! And let's face it, we are already thinking about the weekend. Here's a tip on an event happening this weekend at The Bayou Music Center. An event perfect for a date night!

Rodney Carrington!!
He has been making audiences laugh for almost twenty years with his unique brand of stand-up comedy. The country singer-songwriter has recorded eight major label comedy albums which have sold more than two million copies, two of which have been certified Gold.

Rodney Carrington recently started his own record label "Laughter's Good" and released two albums under the new label in October 2014. Rodney plans to re-release "C'Mon Laugh You Bastards" which will feature 3 new songs, as well as an album of all new material called "Laughter's Good."

In addition to starting his own record label, Rodney is starting a new YouTube series in October 2014 called "Bit By Bit." In the series, he will be releasing new material one piece at a time on a weekly basis.

On November 1, 2014 Sirius XM did a "Rodney Carrington Takeover Special" on their Blue Collar Comedy Channel. Carrington can also be heard every Sunday on ESPN2 on the intro of "Colin's Football Show" with Colin Cowherd. He wrote and performed the intro song for the show, and stars in the video before each show, which airs every Sunday prior to NFL games during the 2014 season.

Originally from Longview, TX, Carrington has three sons and resides in Tulsa, OK.

New Years Fun and Safety

New Years Eve is finally here! A time to reflect, and celebrate, the last 364 days of your life and get ready for the next 365!

If you are still stumped on how you are going to celebrate, here's a few tips and fun things to do in Katy for New Years Eve!

TIME SQUARE:

Kick off the New Year with laser tag, bowling, billiards, arcade games and awesome food. On New Year's Eve, Time Square is offering unlimited pizza and soda with access to all the games. You pay a single admittance fee to have access to all the activities. The celebration continues through the night with a Midnight Countdown, and closes at 1:30 AM.

LA CENTERRA:

La Centerra has plenty of attractions and restaurants perfect for you to visit and enjoy your New Year's Eve celebration! There will also be a fire work show that you can view from The Central Greens, located in the center of La Centerra!

Perry's Steak House- A lovely, romantic, fine dining restaurant. There will be a delicious special, New Years Eve, set menu. As well as, a complimentary champagne toast at midnights for all guests dining.

World Of Beer- WOB has DJ Blue spinning all night long with a keg drop at midnight. We will be giving everyone a free champagne toast at midnight. We are offering bottles of champagne for $25, $4 select drafts all night and at 1am our late night happy hour will start with $3 select drafts!

TOP GOLF:

On Wednesday, December 31 from 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM, join Top Golf for the year's end celebration! They will be heating things up with the hottest tracks of the year with a live DJ and keeping you cool with specialty cocktails to celebrate the New Year! (Topgolf will be closed to the public during this special event, so don't miss out on your chance to reserve your spot.)

• Stop serving alcohol to your guests several hours before the party ends.
• Provide your guests with a place to stay overnight in your home.

If you are attending New Year's Eve parties and celebrations:

• If you drink, don't drive.
• Plan ahead and always designate a sober driver before the party or celebration begins.
• If you are impaired, call a taxi, use mass transit, or get a sober friend or family member to come pick you up.
• Or, stay where you are until you are sober.
• Take the keys from someone if you think he/she is too impaired to drive.

Sweet Things Ice Cream Shoppe is a Katy favorite that has been serving up delicious treats to locals for years. Tucked away in the back corner of a strip mall, it can be hard to spot but once you’ve sampled their wares you'll likely become a fan. All of their super premium ice cream is made right there in the shop in extra-small batches for optimal freshness and flavor, and their devoted clientele wouldn’t have it any other way.

Some of the more popular concoctions include the cinnamon toast and the white chocolate macadamia nut, but they rotate flavors frequently and offer samples to help you make up your mind. They also make their own marshmallow fluff and other toppings. Prices are very reasonable – ice cream is sold by weight, not by scoop size – and the staff is exceptionally friendly.
