Alexandria's Bastille restaurant makes it a point to use seasonal, local ingredients to make food so good, it's been honored as one of the top D.C. area eateries for the past four years. Try the lunchtime prix fixe menu, which includes appetizers like soup or pate du jour, and continues with entrees such as truffle and mushroom risotto, steamed mussels, or the fish of the day. Come to bar for happy hour, Mondays through Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. There’s also an excellent four-course gourmand menu, which can also include a cheese and wine pairing. Bastille is open for lunch and dinner every day, and offers a great brunch on Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
