White Flamingo: Elegant & Original

Head to White Flamingo. Although it’s located in a strip mall, the elegant Victorian-style decor will blow you away. Tables are set with white linens and fresh flowers, and there is live piano music on Friday and Saturday nights, making it perfect for a romantic date. Meals start with complementary cheese-topped bread that customers love just as much as their entrees. The menu offers lunch sandwiches, full size pasta entrees, and an array of fish, steaks, and chops. Try the Cajun seared Mahi Mahi and the Chicken Alfredo. Service is attentive without being overbearing, and prices are quite reasonable for the quality and portion. Start Your Day With a Stack of Pancakes at Sunny Side of the Street

It’s challenging to not find yourself charmed by a breakfast joint when the logo is a sunburst—made of bacon! At Spring’s Sunny Side of the Street, chefs Michael and Tony Kusuma are hard at work on making the most important meal of the day the most delicious meal of the day, as well.

The breakfast menu is chock full of classics such as thick Texas-style French toast, customizable three-egg omelets, and buttery old fashioned biscuits topped with sausage gravy. For the more adventurous, sample some “Future Classics” like apple cheddar flapjacks, blueberry custard baked French toast, or curried butternut squash shirred eggs. While the breakfast selections dominate, the lunch menu also shines with fan favorites and Southern signatures like the self-explanatory chicken waffle toast sandwich and the Korean pulled-pork sandwich served with Korean cabbage slaw and spicy barbecue sauce.

Sunny Side of the Street is open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, with lunch available after 11 a.m. The early bird gets the worm in this case, as tables tend to fill up fast, particularly on the weekends.

Historic Wunsche Bros. Cafe and Saloon

First opened in 1902 as a hotel and saloon for railroad worker, the Historic Wunsche Bros. Cafe and Saloon is a historic landmark in Spring. Come for an evening of drinking, snacking and ghost watching – as the oldest building in town, this place is rumored to be haunted! Favorite appetizers are the homemade sausage and sauerkraut balls and beer battered onion rings.
