Sylvan Beach is the perfect place to frolic in the sand and sun when you need a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life. It’s a 31-acre park with two white sand beaches on Galveston Bay, perfect for swimming, sunbathing, boating and fishing. This La Porte park is just a short trip away from Plaza at San Jacinto!

It also has a picnic area with pavilions that can be reserved for special events and gatherings, a skateboard park, a fishing pier, boat ramp, playground and restrooms with showers. There’s even a bait shop by the pier, so you gear up to catch that mammoth fish you’ve been angling for. Be sure to check out the Annual Sylvan Beach Festival and Crawfish Jam.

Sylvan Beach is open every day, and offers free parking. There is, however, a $4 fee to access the fishing pier.

La Porte's Fish Place and Seafood Café is the go-to place for a tasty seafood meal with a Cajun twist at reasonable prices. All you can eat catfish and chicken tenders are part of the deal here. You can also settle in with bowl of Gumbo, a thick Creole stew with shrimp, crawfish, and sausage. Also on the menu are Oysters, Scallops, Shrimp, Redfish, Catfish, Salmon, and Mahi Mahi. Crawfish Etouffe is another Louisiana-style dish offered at this friendly eatery.

Not a seafood fan?  No problem – they’ve got plenty for landlubbers on their huge menu. Choose from burgers, sandwiches, po’boys, pasta, salad, tacos, chicken tenders, and chicken wings. A nice menu for the kids gives them some tasty choices at bargain prices. Fish Place gets busy at lunchtime, so prepare for a crowd if you visit at peak times.
