Birds are majestic creatures, with habits so fascinating that they’ve inspired birdwatchers worldwide. There’s a lot more that goes into birdwatching than just grabbing a pair of binoculars, however. Here are two informative websites that will teach you everything you need to know about both birds and birdwatching!

All About Birds
The All About Birds website is packed full of information about birds, birdwatching techniques, and even how to get involved in bird advocacy initiatives. Use the expansive bird guide to identify a particularly interesting bird you’ve seen during your watches, or check out one of the bird cams to observe rare and endangered birds in their natural habitats.

Birds
This site provides information about the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, one of the world’s leaders in the study and conservation of birds. Visitors can gain insight into what the lab does on a daily basis, from population studies to research programs, and there are even articles describing the findings from some of their more interesting initiatives. The Birds website also includes ways that birdwatchers can contribute their findings to the lab’s ever-expanding database of bird knowledge, turning the avid birdwatcher into a citizen scientist.
