Fall is HERE and the weather truly couldnt be any better! We are all about getting outdoors and INTO the city and with so many different events popping up why not start in your own city? Houston is the melting pot of all things cultural, and with so many different traditions, ideas and DISHES it was clear that a list of Fun Fall Festivities was definitely in order. Enjoy!
1. Oktoberfest at The Rice Farmers Market: Put on your most comfy shoes and get ready to feast the eyes with The Rice Farmers Market. Oktoberfest will feature live music, local craft breweries, organic spirit vendors offering free samples and wines by Salento Cafe. Rice chefs will prepare foods with a German flair for sampling. Activities include ice sculpture carving and pumpkin decorating. Guests will have access to a variety of local foods. 2. Houston Seance Hosts ; "Jack the Ripper, The Paranormal Experience" : Join for an interactive haunted theatrical recreation of a turn of the century seance that makes contact with Jack the Ripper. The events take place at La Carafe, the oldest bar in the State of Texas. The bar, built in the late 1800s, has a rich haunted history. 3.Concerts at The Square at Market Square Park: Oct. 30 – The Suffers
This local 10-piece band redefines the sound of Gulf Coast Soul by blending elements of classic American soul with rock-n-roll. The Suffers will rock the park with the bold sounds of their horn section and the beautiful voice of lead singer, Kam Franklin. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy some of the hottest musical talents as they perform each month at 8 p.m. in the heart of Market Square Park. 4. Love Street Art Ball Halloween Bash: Flash back to the '60s, the nostalgic decade of pop art, fashion and music. Warhol, Twiggy, The Velvet Underground and Nico and other artsy gurus were hanging out at the Factory.
This Halloween, Phoenicia Specialty Foods Downtown and MKT BAR will become a party factory filled with love street art, '60s mod fashion and groovy tunes. Party goers will experience the art crawl with more than 70 cool works, urban trick-or-treat stations and other surprises along the way.
Decked out in go-go boots and velvet suits, party goers can also rock their favorite '60s personality for a costume contest while enjoying Karbach's Love Street Summer Seasonal beer on tap, bites and drink specials.
