ood and wine, education and art. For nearly three decades, the Trade Commission of Spain has promoted the international growth of the Spanish wine industry through Wines from Spain. This year, Wines from Spain arrives in Houston — its first visit to Texas for several years — to present Spain’s Great Match at Silver Street Studios on November 10.

The event begins earlier in the afternoon with a seminar and walk-around tasting for members of the wine trade and press, before the doors open to the public at 6 pm. That evening, guests can mingle with wine importers and distributors while sampling local cuisine from restaurants such as El Meson, Peska Seafood Culture, Costa Brava, and more.

Wine stations will be placed throughout the modern setting of Silver Street Studios’ art gallery, which will be hosting the FotoFest International Exhibit. Attendees may browse the gallery while sampling more than 200 Spanish wines and enjoying conversation with like-minded wine and food aficionados. They also can visit the “bubble lounge,” where cava, the Spanish sparkling wine, will be the star.

Whether you’re into a crisp Verdejo, an aromatic Albariño, a spicy fruit-filled Garnacha, or a smooth and savory Tempranillo, Spain’s Great Match promises something for every wine enthusiast.

A portion of the proceeds from the November 10 event will benefit Houston charity Recipe for Success. Since 2005, Recipe for Success has been combating childhood obesity through education and community events. So far, more than 25,000 children have been affected by Recipe for Success’ initiatives, and Wines from Spain is proud to partner with the local organization.

Purchase tickets via the Spain’s Great Match Eventbrite page or through the website. CultureMap readers are invited to use the discount code “CultureMap” for $15 off. We also will be giving away free pairs of tickets to four lucky fans via Facebook and Twitter.

Members of the wine trade or press may contact Wines from Spain via email for more information regarding daytime events.
