Honor servicemembers at events around Houston during Veterans Day on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 and beyond.

Celebrate the hard work, service and dedication of veterans and active military with parades, ceremonies and events around Houston that honor members of the armed forces.

  • Free Workout in La Porte | Wednesday, November 11 | FREE – Get in a workout of the day at the La Porte Fitness Center and sign the “land of the free because of the brave” banner during this free fitness event. This event is open to all and is part of WOD with Warriors. 6:15am to 10pm.
  • Houston Salutes American Heroes Veterans Day Celebration at City Hall | Wednesday, November 11 | FREE – Join Mayor Anise Parker in honoring veterans during the “Houston Salutes American Heroes” Veterans Day Celebration event at City Hall. The day begins with the AT&T Job & Resource Fair that brings more than 30 companies to City Hall to recruit veterans and offer employment resources. Vets can get free health screenings and flu shots during the Health Fair, and all military personnel will be honored with a ceremony that includes a moment of silence and a 21-gun salute. 9am.
  • American Heroes Parade in Downtown | Wednesday, November 11 | FREE – Gather downtown to watch as military organizations, ROTC leaders, marching bands and veterans parade through the city. The parade begins on Lamar at Bagby and continues up Smith, over on Walker and down on Louisiana. 11:30am.
  • Star-Spangled Cabaret: A Veterans Day Salute at Caviart Gallery | Friday, November 13 and Sunday, November 15 – Lone Star Lyric stages a musical tribute to veterans with a program of lively songs from the World War II era. $30; but limited discounted $20 tickets are available. Friday 8pm; Sunday 6pm.
