The most expensive street in Houston: Downtown thoroughfare still remains king

ouston's residential real estate market isn't alone when it comes to skyrocketing prices. In fact, a new report from JLL reveals the most expensive commercial streets in the U.S., and one is in the heart of downtown.

Louisiana Street is the 15th most expensive street in America, according to the report. The investment firm found that the average rent on this downtown thoroughfare is $43.67 per square foot, more than $14 higher than the Houston market average.

Two other pricey streets in Texas made the exclusive list. Congress Avenue in Austin comes in at No. 11, with an average price per square foot of $48.11. McKinney Avenue in Dallas ranks No. 14 overall; the average rent there is $43.81 per square foot.

Sand Hill Road in the San Francisco suburb of Menlo Park is No. 1 in the survey with an average price per square foot of $141.60.
