Rock this weekend to a free show by Buxton at Historic Market Square’s 2nd Saturday Nites

Sway to the folk rock style of Buxton in concert, taking the stage at 2nd Saturday Nites in Historic Market Square this Saturday, August 13, 2016.

Historic Market Square’s monthly event series, 2nd Saturday Nites, wraps up for the summer this weekend with a concert-filled evening headlined by the folk-friendly sounds of local Americana mainstay, Buxton.

After the show, grown-ups will also find special entertainment and offers at many of the neighborhood’s eclectic bars and restaurants, including Little Dipper, OKRA Charity Saloon, Niko Niko’s, La Fisheria, and Dean’s Downtown.

Meanwhile, the Market on Main will also keep things bustling this weekend with food and fashion trucks from 7pm until 2am along the 300 and 400 blocks of Main Street.

2nd Saturday Nites: Buxton in Concert

Arrive early this Saturday for a game of cornhole or giant Jenga in Niko Niko’s Game Garden. Come early and enjoy a set by another hometown favorite, Dollie Barnes, as she kicks things off for the park at 7pm.

The main event follows at 8pm, featuring the rustic psychedelia-infused Americana of Buxton. From the dusty tones of guitar-slinging anthems to lonesome solo acoustic affairs, the band brings a dynamic approach to their sets that only a seasoned band of more than a decade like themselves can pull off with ease.

The group has become known for their brand of moody indie rock. Their mixing of honky-tonk, ambiance, and distorted elements have resulted in their most realized album to date, Half A Native.

Market on Main

Just a block away, Market on Main will feature some of Houston’s favorite food and vendor trucks, including Kurbside Eatz, Craft Burger, Unlikely Mobile Boutique and Photo Moto. The entertainment in Market Square lasts until about 9pm and all ages are welcome.

The party will continue for those who stick around and explore the neighborhood’s eclectic bars and restaurants for tasty bites and drink specials until 2am.
