This month, there’s plenty of reason to get out and celebrate the end of summer. From brew-filled beer festivals and an Oktoberfest celebration to BBQ smokeouts and #RoséAllDay on the patio, here’s everything you should be eating and drinking in Houston this September:

Top 16 Food & Drink Events to Hit in Houston this Month

  • SaltAir Chef Series at SaltAir Seafood Kitchen | All month long – This worldly Chef Series runs through Wednesday, October 5, offering 12 weeks of rotating menus for $50 per person with a beverage pairing at additional cost. Inspired by SaltAir chefs’ favorite flavors, cultures and experiences touching the water, September’s lineup of menus features coastal dishes from Spain, Morocco, the Mediterranean, and the Philippines. Menus are subject to change and will be served on the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of their designated week. Reservations are recommended. Call 713-521-3333. Times vary daily.
  • Houston Restaurant Weeks | Through Labor Day, Monday, September 5 – Don’t miss your last chance to dine out for a cause and get delicious savings during this citywide philanthropic event, benefiting the Houston Food Bank. This year’s dining options have expanded to include a $20 brunch, $20 lunch, and $25, $35 and $45 dinner, with every meal sold bringing in $3 to $7 to the food bank. The growing list of participating restaurants is expected to reach over 200, and with last year’s event bringing in a record-breaking $1.9 million, we can’t wait to see what this year brings. Times and prices vary per restaurant.
  • Brewmasters Craft Beer Festival at Moody Gardens | Friday, September 2 to Sunday, September 4 – Galveston’s coolest craft beer festival features events like the Brewmasters Friday Night Pub Crawl, Texas Brewery Tasting Tour, BrewHaHa Grand Tasting and even non-beer happenings like the Nach-Yo Ordinary Tequila Tasting. Tickets range in price depending on the event. Times vary daily.
  • Labor Day & Rosé at Brasserie 19 | Monday, September 5 – Ease out of summer and #RoséAllDay at this fun, rosé-themed Labor Day party and BBQ on the patio. In addition to plenty of great eats and refreshing pink drinks, Brasserie 19 will select a winner to receive a Miraval Magnum signed by Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie. For each bottle of Miraval purchased leading up to Labor Day, guests will be entered to win. 2pm.
  • End of an Era Party at Royal Oak Bar & Grill | Monday, September 5 through Monday, September 12 | FREE to Attend – The popular Montrose party spot may be closing, but in true party fashion, they are going out with a bang before they do. Celebrate the end of an era with a week full of drink specials, from $3 Texas beers to $5 martinis. 4pm to midnight daily.
  • “What the Somms are Sipping on the Patio” tasting at Hunky-Dory Tavern | Thursday, September 8 – There’s no better way to explore wine than by sipping it, so head to Hunky Dory to sip on a selection of great patio wines cherry-picked by the sommelier team and paired alongside small bites from chef Richard Knight. Tickets are $35 per person, plus tax and gratuity. 5:30pm to 6:30pm.
  • The Great Banh Mi Cook-Off at Anheuser Busch | Wednesday, September 14 – Houston’s top chefs are bringing their banh mi A-game to this third annual event. Watch (and taste) as competitors from spot including Midtown Barbecue, Songkran Thai Kitchen, and Roostar Vietnamese Grill battle it out for the People’s Choice and Judges’ Choice awards. Tickets are $30 for general admission, with a $10 Budweiser Day Fresh Tour available for purchase. 6:30pm to 9:30pm.
  • Pearland International Festival at Pearland Town Center | Friday, September 16 through Saturday, September 17 – This 4th annual international fest kicks off with a ‘80s Rewind Dance Party on Friday, followed by the festival on Saturday. Tickets for a two-day concert and festival pass are $25, one-day festival access for $15, or VIP tickets featuring the best bites and sips that Pearland has to offer for $50. General admission tickets are $5 for children 12 and under. Friday 5pm to 10pm; Saturday 11am to 10pm.
  • Tremont Whiskey Punch Tasting at Michel B. Menard House | Saturday, September 17 – Galveston’s oldest residence, the 1838 Menard House, will play host to a late afternoon of great music and spirits with history. Enjoy samplings of Tremont Whiskey Punch, made from the original recipe, alongside a live band on the back gazebo. Tickets are $30. 4pm to 6pm.
  • Arts & Drafts at The Silo | Saturday, September 17 – Sip and sample from a selection of over 30 unique beers as you peruse the work of talented Texan creatives, from graffiti art and sculptor work to modern art and art cars. The day will also feature live DJs and bands, a graffiti battle and tasty eats. Tickets are $25 for just the arts, $35 for arts and draft tastings, and $60 for arts and more drafts. 4pm to 8pm.
  • Eat. Drink. Experience! Underground Dinners | Saturday, September 17 to Sunday, September 18 – Former Masterchef contestant Alvin Schultz invites guests to a secret supper club (location TBD), featuring a multi-course plated feast and unique communal fine dining experience. Cost is $125 per person and the dinner is BYOB. Seating is limited and reservations are first-come, first-served. Times vary daily.
  • Taste of the Nation at The Corinthian | Tuesday, September 20 – Join 40 of Houston’s most celebrated chefs and mixologists as they raise the critical funds needed to end childhood hunger in America. Since 1988, the tasting event has raised over $2.2 million for No Kid Hungry. This year’s featured bar and restaurant lineup wows with all-stars including BCN Taste + Tradition, KUU, Canard, and Moving Sidewalk. Tickets are $125 for general admission and $200 for VIP. 6:30pm to 10pm.
  • Come to the Table at The Beacon | Thursday, September 22 – Ten of Houston’s top chefs will come together in one kitchen to raise funds for The Beacon and its programs that serve Houston’s homeless. This 6th annual event is a two-part culinary experience, with a garden party reception followed by a wine-paired, four-course dinner prepared by talent including Lyle Bento from Southern Goods, Philippe Gaston from Izakaya, and Mark Holley from Holley’s Seafood Restaurant & Oyster Bar. Individual tickets for the reception and dinner start at $500 with limited availability; tables of ten start at $5,000. 6pm.
  • Galveston Island Shrimp Festival at The Strand | Friday, September 23 to Sunday, September 25 – Get your shrimp on during three fun-filled days of music, family-friendly events, and shrimp, of course. Highlights include a Gumbo Shrimp Cook-Off, Gumbo Tasting, and Lil’ Shrimp’s Parade. Tickets for the tasting Gumbo Stroll are $12. Times vary daily.
  • Oktoberfest Houston at The Water Works | Saturday, September 24 – Celebrate Bavarian culture, the Houston way. This awesome beer festival offers authentic polka and country acts, a library of German and local suds, and brats, ‘kraut and strudel from local vendors. Be sure not to miss the Houston Sports and Social Club Fun Zone with giant Jenga and cornhole, plus the Olympiad Games including the Stein Race, Barrel Roll, Bucket Race, and Legendary Brat Toss. Tickets are $25 for general admission and $80 for VIP. 12:30pm to 6:30pm.
  • The Woodlands BBQ Festival at Town Green Park | Sunday, September 25 – This community barbecue festival features some of the most talented and celebrated BBQ pitmasters around. Jam to live music, sip brews, and enjoy smoked eats from top spots including Corkscrew BBQ, Tejas Chocolate, and The Brisket House. Tickets range between $60 to $120, not including ticket fees. 1pm to 5pm.
