Personal finance site MoneyRates.com ranked all 50 states to determine the best and worst states to make a living. The site looked at average wages, taxes, cost of living, unemployment rate and incidents of workplace safety incidents for each state. It also drew data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Council for Community and Economic Research and the Tax Foundation.
