The South has some of the country’s richest and most controversial history, and for residents of Alexandria, the Alexandria Black History Museum offers a variety of unique exhibits displaying important events of this region's past. The museum is located just three miles from The Shelby, making it a great destination for a summer day trip.
Housed in what was once a segregated library, the Alexandria Black History Museum is small but packed with many exhibits illustrating the struggles and triumphs of people of color in America. There's no admission fee to enter the museum, though there is a suggested donation. Everything from artifacts to short videos are housed here, encompassing both local and national history, so be sure to check out this popular local museum soon.
