Learn More About Local History on the Mercy in Alexandria Tour

November 3, 2016 | greystar

Attention history buffs: don't miss the opportunity to enjoy the Alexandria Visitor Center’s Mercy in Alexandria Tour through Old Town this fall. Part history lesson, part scenic tour, this excursion is based on the PBS mini-series Mercy Street.

Guided by a military historian, you will be taken on a one-hour, eight-stop adventure that highlights historic homes, taverns, and hotels that were of significant importance during the Civil War. The trek concentrates on where the characters of the TV mini-series as well as other important figures of the time spent their days. While it only encompasses six blocks, it is best to wear comfortable shoes as there are few places to sit down. The Mercy in Alexandria Tour costs $15 per person, so don't miss it!
