Learn About a Farming Tradition at Cochon 555
August 4, 2017 | greystar
A heritage breed pig—or a "cochon," as it's called in French—is typically raised without any antibiotics or inhumane treatment on a family farm. It's one of the remaining vestiges of farming tradition. And many family farmers continue to raise their pigs this way. Cochon 555 wants to teach the masses about the heritage breed pig, which is why it travels from city to city hosting "nose-to-tail" cooking competitions.
Cochon 555 comes to Washington, DC on Sunday, August 6th from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at The Watergate Hotel. Tickets start at $125 and grant you access to tasty samples from more than 30 local chefs. Some of them come from mom-and-pop eateries, others work at Michelin-ranked restaurants, but they all work with local family farmers to source heritage breed pigs for their event.
