A few days after Valentine's Day, Alexandrians have another reason to celebrate: the birthday of the first President of the United States. The George Washington Birthday Parade will take over Old Town Alexandria starting at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 19th — what most Americans know as President's Day.

Come out to honor the man who led your country as festive floats and performance group flood the streets for approximately two hours. This year, the Grand Marshal is a group of local heroes: the first responders who quickly showed up on the scene when a shooter took aim at congressmen who were practicing for a baseball game at a local field. Arrive early to grab a good spot along the parade route at this year's George Washington Birthday Parade in Old Town Alexandria.
