Sip Some Tea with Lady Washington at Mount Vernon on March 10 and 24

February 19, 2018 | greystar

High tea is more than just an excuse to stop your day for a snack. It's a cultural activity that the earliest Americans borrowed from the British. This included Martha and George Washington, who often enjoyed their tea together at Mount Vernon. Come to Tea with Lady Washington at the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant to speak to the former First Lady about this habit.

On Saturday, March 10th and March 24th, the eatery hosts a Martha Washington (or rather, an actress who's well-versed in her history) for tea from 2 to 3 p.m. She'll chat about the early years with husband and first POTUS George Washington, when they were still fighting the Revolutionary War and just settling in at Mount Vernon. She'll also discuss their daily routine, including tea, while you sip it and enjoy some light bites. After the performance, feel free to stay and check out the rest of Mount Vernon and its collection of art.
