The 34th Annual George Washington Parkway Classic: Enjoy a Historic Run on April 22
April 16, 2018 | greystar
George Washington spent most of his time at his home, Mount Vernon, but when he wasn't there, you could often find him in Old Town Alexandria. Both of the former president's well-known haunts bookend the 34th Annual George Washington Parkway Classic on Sunday, April 22nd.
The run consists of two races: a 5K and a 10-miler. The 10-mile race begins at Mount Vernon—the starting shot is actually fired from its front steps—and races down the George Washington Parkway until it reaches Old Town Alexandria. Once you complete your trek, you have a treat (or two) waiting for you at the finish line. Grab a complimentary brew in Port City's Beer Garden and nosh on a free breakfast taco, courtesy of District Taco. Registration for the George Washington Parkway Classic is $80 for the 10-mile course and $55 for the 5K.
