Lafayette Reservoir: Big Sky Water

March 5, 2013 | sack

The Lafayette Reservoir is a fine place for active Bay Area residents to take a run around the lake, cast a line to pick up some fish, take a boat out on the lake, or even just come with their families for a picnic. Amenities at the reservoir include a playground for the little ones on the east lawn as well as 125 picnic tables, about a third of which are outfitted with barbecues. Two trails, one paved and one unpaved, are available for hiking, and the 928 acres of open space can be used for almost anything imaginable. As a public park, fees are required for a few of the pastimes on offer, including bait and tackle with which to go angling for the planted trout or catfish, but if you can afford parking—and you can—you can afford to have a lovely time.
