Sink Your Teeth into Fresh Ciabatta at Morucci’s Si Mangia Bene

June 9, 2015 | sack

Piping-hot pastrami, gooey Swiss cheese, and fresh ciabatta bread. These are the components that collide to become the wildly popular hot pastrami sandwich at Morucci's Si Mangia Bene, a classic Italian deli in Walnut Creek. In fact, anything stuffed between slices of ciabatta bread is typically a hit at Morucci's, probably because it's always served crusty and warm right from the oven.

If you're not feeling the pastrami, try meat-free The Natural sammy instead. It's stuffed with avocado, sprouts, lettuce, black olives, tomatoes, walnuts, and a layer of fluffy whipped cream cheese all between two slices of whole-wheat bread. You can also go with the more inventive mesquite chicken sandwich, packed with a tangy chicken breast, house-made salsa and dressing, and lettuce. The Dutch crunch roll that surrounds the mesquite chicken adds a crispy outer shell to the sandwich.
